Klean Kanteen compared to Sigg

Last month I bought a 40oz Klean Kanteen bottle and a 33oz Sigg bottle. In the end I prefer the Klean Kanteen.



Both bottles are very light and look good. The Sigg is lighter but not so much to really matter. Sigg wins easily in the looks department with different artwork to choose from and the bottle I have has a nice textured powder coat finish compared to the KK basic look and smooth surface.



Sigg uses an epoxy to protect your water from the aluminum and tells you not to use the bottle for long term storage. Could be a bit worrisome not knowing what's in the epoxy and the possibility of aluminum contamination. I have not noticed a metallic taste from either bottle drinking straight unfiltered tap water. I prefer the stainless steel of the KK just because it's probably on the safer side.



The bottles are both lightweight and made of thin metal. I haven't dented either but I have been very careful with them. Both feel like they would dent quite easily. I have not scratched either bottle and the paint on both looks like new after daily use from work to the gym.



The KK bottle has the cap threading formed into the neck of the bottle while the Sigg uses a metal ring insert in the top of the bottle to thread the cap onto. Some people have complained that the Sigg's threaded insert is sharp but I have not had this problem. The KK is more comfortable to drink from though. Also the wide mouth of the bottle makes it easy to put ice cubes in which you can't do with the Sigg unless you have very small ice cubes.



I have the loop cap on both bottles. The Sigg I really have to twist the cap on tight so it doesn't leak. The KK cap seals quite easily and has never leaked. The KK also uses a thicker thread size and is easier to screw the cap onto because of this.



Some people are complaining about sweating. On a hot day with the bottles filled with ice cubes both will sweat but plastic bottles will also.



If I was going to spend that much money on a water bottle again I would go with Klean Kanteen without a second thought. The only advantage of the Siggs is the exterior design.



Update Dec 09: Over a year of use now and I have stopped using the Sigg due to their older bottles do in fact have BPA. Something they said it didn't have so I won't buy another bottle from them again since it appears they were lying before. They will replace the older bottles but you have to pay shipping.



I have 2 Klean Kanteens and both have held up well. Some minor scratches and dents but still look quite good.More detail ...

Holy Grail Bottle!

If you have been looking for a great water bottle this is it!!! I am not a hard core workout person - I just want to drink more water for my health. I use this bottle at work going from meeting to meeting and bring it with me when I am on the go in the car. I never thought I would be so excited about a bottle but I am - Camelbak really thought about useful features and it shows.



The bottle holds quite a bit of water (25 oz 750mL). The bottle is leakproof. I like drinking from the straw - no tipping the bottle required. No unscrewing a cap just flip up the valve and drink. I removed the flexible bite valve cover and just drink normally from the hard plastic straw piece since the bite valve seemed a little weird to me. I have had no problems with leaking with the valve cover removed - just flip down the valve when I am on the go and there is no leaking. The valve system seems very well designed. I generally sit the bottle on its side on the car seat or throw it in a bag with no leaking just like a regular screw-cap bottle. The carry loop is nice - fits in your finger. It is easy to fill with the wide mouth. It comes in lots of colors.



As for minuses there is only one minor annoyance and that was mentioned by a previous reviewer - the straw does not reach the bottom of the bottle. Note that this size bottle does not fit into the car cupholder - would need the 16oz=0.5L for that. Also the plastic has scratched slightly from rolling around on a sandy car mat.



I have decided to purchase another bottle so that I can have one at home and one at work. I highly recommend!



Updated 12/24/07:

I still love this bottle although I am now accustomed to it and it is not quite as exciting as when I first got it :-) I fill it every morning and bring it to work with me and also fill it when I get home from work. It has really helped me to increase my water consumption. The plastic has scuffed up a bit but there is no change in function. I wanted to mention that water will come out when the bottle is opened after a pressure change - like going from air conditioned space and leaving it in a hot car. Physics at work.

Yes I STILL love this bottle and purchased another (the BPA-free version). I was pleased to find that the straw in the new bottle does reach nearly the bottom of the bottle so that annoyance has been corrected. This is a Used Salomon Symbio 440 Mid Entry boot. This is a great boot for beginner to intermediate skiers looking for a basic boot that is easy to put on and take off. These Mid Entry boots are getting hard to find and alot of beginner skiers love these boots. They open and close in the back.

I only took photos of this one Boot. They are all in similar condition except as noted in the description below.

Condition

These boots were used in a Ski Shop Rental program. On the back of the boot there are some numbers engraved into the plastic as seen in the bottom photo. The boots have lots of scuffs and scratches as you would expect on a used boot.

Manufacturers boots fit a little differently. I suggest trying on a similar brand or model at a local shop to get the best idea of fit and size. The mondo point comparison to street shoe size is close but not exact. Remember to use a ski sock made of wool or a wicking fabric. Do not use cotton socks. If you are not sure please do not bid. This is a used pair of Rossignol Comp-j Kids Ski Boots. This is a great boot to get the young ones on the mountains early for a great price. This is a front entry boot for a great snug fit. It holds the foot in place better than a rear entry boot. The intermediate to advanced young skier will get more control out of their skis with a better boot like the Rossignol Comp-j.

I took one photo of the Comp-j to show you the overall condition of the boot. The boot you will receive will be in a similar condition. In some cases the Rossingol name and Comp-j logo will be worn off.

Condition

These used Rossignol Comp-j Kids ski boots were used in a small mountain rental shop. They have normal scrapes and slices like any used rental boot. The boots have some numbers printed on the back of the boot liner or on the plastic shell.
